Instagram Q&A - Part 1
Last night before going to bed, I posted on IG to ask any question and we will answer them in the next blog. Well, heres the blog!
Do you have any candidates from Indonesia for your next team member?
Yes. We are currently actively scouting players from all regions, including Indonesia. I have a KPI for myself to recruit players this year – and not specifically just 1A players.
For the benefit of the doubt for non-sponsored players – there’s no need to reach out to us (or any brands) if you're interested in joining. Companies that are recruiting are always actively watching and will reach out to you if they’re keen to sponsor you.
Do you think “alternatives” is considered a big company?
In the yo-yo world, my definition of a “big company” would be based on the following:
- Producing high volumes – Multiple runs and releases per year, producing 1000+ units per drop. Has manufacturing capabilities or strong high-volume relationships with machine shops.
- High revenue – Self-explanatory.
- Number of staff/workforce (not sponsored team) – Employs designers, logistics, customer service, etc.
- Brand recognition – Known across the yo-yo community and considered a public/household name.
- Global distribution & retail presence – Carried by major yo-yo retailers or even available in toy/hobby stores.
With all those laid out, we are far from being a big company.
What’s after Stronger?
Hopefully something bigger, or just nothing. While I believe Stronger is highly beneficial in creating a united scene in South East Asia, it is expensive to organize and loses money with every event.
There are many ways to look at it – writing it off as ‘marketing expenses,’ or as experience gained for our team members and myself as an organizer. However, losing money does hinder the progress of “alternatives” as a brand, which leaves me with mixed feelings.
Stronger may come back in 2026 – it really depends on EP7 and how we perform this year. Or EP7 will just be the final Stronger, which I’ve made peace with.
When is the new signature yo-yo coming out?
If we’re referring to the same yo-yo… Q3/Q4.
